I was thinking about this today. Green Day has not continued playing a song regularly from a post 21CB album after their tours for those albums. Everyone loves bang bang I think and they never play it anymore, Still Breathing is better than dilemma imo but they never play it anymore. They never played anything from foam really and the trilogy may as well have never happened I guess? Like why don’t they mix in some of the post 21st stuff like shit is getting stale!
Don’t get me wrong I still love watching them live but unless you get into a club show (yeah right) you see the same songs every time.
I think the main change has been that they’ve been doing stadium tours and festivals for the most part for the last several years and they feel like they need to bring their only their biggest hits for those types of shows. To fill those stadiums they need to have bigger opening bands so it doesn’t leave much room for an expanded setlist since their stage time is limited.
If they ever go back to touring arena & amphitheatre type venues, then I think you’d see a bit more variety in the setlist. The question is, will they ever go back to that type of touring? It seems like they prefer the reduced touring schedule that they can get away with by just hitting stadiums across the country rather than playing every cities hockey rink.
But to answer your question, no I don’t think anything from Saviors will become a setlist staple going forward - as you said, it hasn’t happened for the last 5 albums so I doubt it’ll change with this one unfortunately.
when they played the 3-4 or whatever it was random songs each night on that one tour (21st cb?) it was so awesome! Just give us at least 1 or 2 different songs a night
they were changing it up every night at least on the 2025 leg of the saviors tour. they brought back haushinka, stuart and the ave, brat, forever now, even oh love once
If anything I think songs like One Eyed Bastard, Look Ma No Brains, and Bobby Sox will be relegated to deep cut slots on the next tour. We may get more stuff like Fancy Sauce or 1981 in club shows but that’s probably gonna be it. However I did want to point out that Still Breathing was played a ton on the Hella Mega tour and Rev Rad got played like 13 times in 2025.
Look Ma is so great live, wish they’d keep it but you’re right they probably won’t. Pretty crazy that even the first singles from any of the albums don’t even ever get played. Father of all the song only was ever played like 10 times and Billie claimed at the time it was their best first single ever or some shit
It would be nice if at least one song from each album was played! We don’t need half the show to be american idiot and dookie even though those are great albums!
If anything I could see Bobby Sox becoming a frequent part of the setlist. It seem to have become a politically charged song linked to the LHBTIQ+ rights, so even tough we should hope not, it could stay around as a voice against the current conservative politics.
Then again, as mentioned above, no song after KYE has made it into the core setlist.
