Now Open: Green Day TV Guide

The GDTV Guide is now open and ready for you guys to try out! Let me know if there’s any issues, it’s been a surprisingly difficult thing to pull off so there may be some bumps along the way but we’ll get them sorted ASAP as they come up

Now, the guide itself is built by monitoring what is playing and once we’ve captured the full playlist it can build out the future airings. What this means though is that once a playlist change has been detected it has to rebuild the guide by waiting until it loops through the full thing again before we can show future airings. So if a playlist is changed on Friday, it could be 24-30+ hours before it loops through the full thing and we have an upcoming guide again (previously aired will work in this time however).

In addition to just viewing what’s on, you can comment on videos (which auto sync between the forum and the guide so you can view and add comments in either place), add shows to your watchlist, rate them and set reminders for future airings. You’ll also find a GDTV tab in your Reject Club account where you can see what you’ve marked watched, what is on your watchlist and some stats for your watch history.

I’ll post any changes in this thread and please reply here as well with any bugs you encounter or feature requests.

Genius, very impressive. I’m not sure i’m completely down with the retro styling but I get that you’re mimicking the channel so understandable. I think a more modern approach would be better but regardless it’s really awesome to be able to view what is coming and it will be a big improvement when we can see what is new on the list each week.

I actually pivoted to a more modern style towards the end and it honestly just didn’t feel right and so I went back to this, I think it fits the channel theme and a modern look just kinda felt bland. But if others feel the same way it can certainly be changed in the future.

It’s actually growing on me now! It was a bit strange at first but I think it does work for the channel

Yet another marble! I’m really into the retro style, so my vote is for keeping it as it is!

Added a new data column for most viewers on YouTube. Each time an item plays it will store the peak viewer count and then add them to the ranking. The columns are no longer limited to 8 items either, they remain 8 visible but scrollable down to 20.

This is fire, i’m so excited to use this! WHat if you had the channel streaming on that page if you’re taking suggestons?

I actually built that in but they have the stream set to not allow embedding outside YouTube so all it would show was a “Watch on YouTube” link

Interested to see the new data of what is new when it switches, will it be thursday or friday?

Still no change yet. I think it makes more sense to do it on Fridays, gives you something to look forward to for the weekend!

They just added a message that it’s being updated in 20 mins, so around 8:30pm EST this week

So they just dropped a few new things at the start and the rest is all the same? Not even a new episode of Raj :frowning:

The bigger issue, for the guide at least, is that they don’t seem to be removing anything week to week so it’s just growing longer and longer. We’re coming up on 35 hours now! The guide can’t map out what is coming up until it loops back around again. The new content isn’t even repeating at all in the loop so once you miss it, it’ll be 30+ hours before it airs again depending on when this thing finally finishes.

Edit: Finally done after almost 36 hours!

Hoping they mix it up more this week, it’s already feeling a bit stale. Guess we we’re spoiled by the first week since the whole thing was new and now we are just getting a couple new things per week.

Well we’re finally getting a new episode of Transmission Unknown tomorrow at least!

If it remains the same as last week, where all the new stuff was at the start, then this is all the new additions for this week. We’ll have to cycle through the full playlist to see what (if anything) was removed.
