You have one shot, one song to get someone into Green Day, what song are you picking?
Oh man, that’s really hard and depends on what kind of music they typically like. I mean, Dookie was the album that made me a fan, so it’s hard for me to imagine someone could hear Basket Case and not immediately fall in love, but I have friends who weren’t into their sound until American Idiot came out!
Having said that, I’d still probably shoot my shot with Basket Case or She.
Man, this is harder than asking me my top 1 song by them. I think perfect starting point is Holiday.
Hmmm, this tough! You could say for a certain crowd that doesn’t listen to this type of music typically Good Riddance would be a good start. If someone was a rock fan already then JOS. If I had to pick one that fans of any genre might like though I think it would be When I Come Around.
What a question! I suppose it would depend on them. E.g if they knew the band from Time Of Your Life I’d probably say Basket Case but if they thought all GD did was hard and fast then perhaps Whatsername. If the person had never heard them, I would find it hard to pick.
Tough choice… I think I would have to go with scattered or maybe one of the dookie singles. There’s something pretty universal about them i think
Scattered was my next choice!
I think that would be mine as well
Probably something from American Idiot or Dookie. Probably the singles. Then if they say they like American Idiot songs better, then I recommend 21CB and RevRad songs and if they liked Dookie better, I’d recommend insomniac and Nimrod
I feel like only singles would work with this question, just because they are more popular. I would say Jesus of Suburbia, but that song is way too long for a new guy to take in. Longview or Basket Case are some good songs to get someone into Green Day lol.
Yeah, this would be the perfect way to go about it. I feel like there are two Green Days: pre and post American Idiot, and what song you’d use to get a potential fan into them would depend on which version of the band aligns more with their musical taste.
Yeah I totally agree! That’s why if I were to get someone I know into Green Day, I’d ask if they like 90s punk rock or 2000s pop punk better as a starting point.
I’d go balls to the wall and put on Jesus of Suburbia, I love that song and it’s pretty impressive imo. I mean AI was s the album that got me into green day as a young kid and for me it’s always gonna be special so I guess I would also pick a track off of it because of that
I got my friend Wyatt into GD with Waiting.
