What’s a green day song you’re really close to?

Homecoming because it was the one song that got me into GD. I remember I knew GD existed but never listened to them. I tried American Idiot and liked it. I tried Homecoming and I fell in love.

Whatsername because I relate to the song on a personal level. Think of me as the Whatsername to someone else I used to be close with.

Stuck with me, relatable and just a banger tune

Difficult one. I love Christie Road and they played it October 2009, second time I saw them. It’s one of favourite songs and I cried I was so happy BUT Whatsername may be my favourite song ever! Oh to hear it live. I’m rubbish at this, I can never pick one!

Christie road because I think everyone can think of the times back when you were a teenager hanging out at one of yours spots and identify with the lyrics

Whatsername helped me get over my first breakup, just the end lines ‘And in the darkest night, if my memory serves me right. Ill never turn back time, forgetting you but not the time’

Ill always miss her, but this song helped me realise that she may have hurt me, but I had one hell of a time regardless. Kinda goes back to an interview I saw with Billie before saying that in some way everyone is St Jimmy/JoS, guess she was my Whatsername

Still Breathing was the song that got me into Green Day and got me through a tough time. More recently, Forever Now as I relate to it a lot <3

Man I got so many but I think for me its When Me Up When September Ends.

The first time I saw Green Day live was 2021 in Miami. It was raining toward the end of the show but the most beautiful moment was when Billie sang “here comes the rain again” it began to rain harder. It was such a beautiful moment.

I am also a surivor of Hurricane Ian which was devastating to my home town and it happened at the end of September so it has a lot of meaning to me

I think Give Me Novocaine, it’s a song I feel relates to things I’ve been through and I’m very fond of it. I went through a massive depression and would regularly abuse drugs/alcohol. It was also one of the songs I learnt first on my guitar.

Macy’s Day Parade. It takes me back when My mom put on a record player that song in the morning of my 17th birthday and she had put under my pillows some great gifts: a kerplunk CD and the brand new album(of that time of course) 21st cb. Yes, it was a great birthday listening the new GD album

Wake Me Up When September Ends bc my mom loves green day, and her father passed away during the covid quarantine. We were unable to visit him at the hospital or even attend his funeral. That was one of the first times I saw my mother so helpless and in so much grief. I heard somewhere that the song was about bja losing his father, so now I think of her whenever I hear it

Came back to this a few months later and wanted to re-answer the question:

Forever Now, Still Breathing, Wake Me Up When September ends and J.A.R.

J.A.R because I lost a friend in a car accident so the lyrics were very relevant to me.

Wake Me Up When September Ends because I lost a friend to cancer and feel some of the pain that song expresses.

Still Breathing helped me through some tough times.

And Forever Now has some lyrics I really relate to.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams. It introduced me to the band when it came out. I was 9 years old. It is the most formative songs that i have related to all my life. And Billie became my very first crush at that time as well.
