Vinyl slipmat help?

So, I got the vinyl box set in the mail yesterday and obviously I had to open it up and put the slipmat on my record player. The problem arose this morning when I went to put my new Nimrod vinyl on the turntable with the slipmat on as well and it made a noise like they were rubbing up against each other? I just wanted to ask if that’s normal or if I’m using the slipmat incorrectly ?

Unfortunately I do not know a lot about vinyl slipmats as I don’t use one currently, but I will when I get the box set. From what I read they are supposed to reduce static but can sometimes attract dust, though yours shouldn’t have done that if it’s brand new out the box. They are also used for DJs so they can scratch and to help the record spin freely so idk. I would say if you are worried about it damaging the record maybe don’t use it just to be safe.

Are you putting the Nimrod slipmat on top of the one that came with your record player? You’re supposed to take off whichever slipmat is on there first and then put the Nimrod one on.
