Most Meaningful Songs

What songs mean the most to you? It’s under general because it doesn’t have to be Green Day related! Just something that makes you feel happy, sad, nostalgic.

I can’t identify with the song myself but it hits me right in the feels

For me, I can’t listen to One More Light by Linkin Park without crying. It has so much attached to it. Before the Lobotomy has the same effect on me.

Songs that make me cry every time I hear them (seriously I can’t sing along to them without losing it):

  1. The Greatest Discovery- Elton John
  2. Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straits
  3. Father and Son - Cat Stevens

I’m such a softie :face_holding_back_tears:

To this day I still get chills when I hear Baba O’Riley by the Who. I guess it’s one of their more well-known songs, but for damn good reason .
Honorable mentions include Swingin Party by the Replacements (and pretty much all of Tim, honestly. Can’t listen to that album all the way through without crying at least once), Surrender by Cheap Trick, and Summer Babe - Winter Version by Pavement. Like after hearing these songs I just have to pause and marinate in them for a little while lol

I don’t really get emotionally invested into songs I just listen for a bop but the one song I do remember fucking with my head a bit is Lonely by MGK. I think it’s cos it came out shortly before my grandad died

Soooo many songs. Totally with @J_G about one more light, that performance after Chris Cornel died is stunning but every time I hear it, it stops me in my tracks. Thank @pacejunkie, I couldn’t think of The Greatest Discovery but went to listen to it and you sent me down Elton’s back catalogue of fantastic songs. Seriously, any youngsters here who don’t know early Elton, go back to his early stuff, it’s excellent.

I think mine would be The Real Me by the Who, Stay Together for the Kids by Blink-182 and Whatsername by Green Day. I don’t even know why they mean so much to me, they just kinda do. My brain’s weird lmao
Edit: I forgot Franco-Unamerican by NOFX. Don’t know how I left that one out!

Whatsername is one that gives me goose bumps every time, also War by Sum 51 and I’m not a fan at all and End Of Suffering, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes.

Sun 51 what a great band

I was listening to a lot of Dylan right after my Dad died (his favorite artist) and for some reason Don’t Think Twice it’s All Right hit me really hard. Even though it’s a break up song, it’s still a person leaving song, so I guess that’s why.

Also, an odd one, since it’s not one of their hits or even done during their prime, but the Eagles’ Learn to Be Still helped me out years ago when my mind was racing with negative thoughts and I just needed to quiet them down.

For Green Day, even though I wasn’t really a fan of Still Breathing at first, it also helped me when I was going through some things. Pollyanna was much needed when it was released as well.

Listening to The Middle by Jimmy Eat World never fails to make me feel better if I’m unhappy.

There’s a bunch of songs that remind me of my relationship with my dysfunctional family and especially with my mother, who walked out of my life almost nine years ago. U2’s “One” is the most relatable one and always makes me cry. REM’s “Losing My Religion,” Nirvana’s “Come As You Are,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Because Of You,” and Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” all make me feel similarly.

A Praise Chorus by Jimmy Eat World has always been super meaningful to me. Inspired me to make a huge cross country move pretty much on a whim.
I Gotta Move by Ben Kweller always really spoke to me in a similar way. Always been a bit unsettled.
Never Say Never by that dog. is my go-to sunny day song. Just instantly puts me in a good mood and makes me feel nostalgic.
Motorcycle Drive By by Third Eye Blind is so cliche, but I spent a lot of time crying about a dumb boy while listening to it, so it has to go on the list.
Too Much by Carly Rae Jepsen was also a good cry over someone song for me for awhile lol.

And so many more but this will do for now.

Ha, fat fingers and autocorrect, a horrible combination! Fixed it now.

I’d deny it irl but 3eb’s self-titled is unironically still one of my favorite albums! Motorcycle Drive By is so good, rip to younger you’s heart

Still one of my favorite albums as well! Saw them perform it in full a couple years ago and loved every second lol.
