You can only keep one, ultimately I find this a tough choice. Both have great moments and neatly tie up the meat of American Idiot. I like the way Homecoming was written, but the way Billie Joe got the idea for JoS is similar to how I write so I like that connection. Homecoming I feel at this point would be awesome live over JoS, but then the emotional relatability of JoS is powerful. Hard choice.
Not sure if I already have said this in the forum already, but Homecoming is the song that got me into GD. It’ll forever hold a place in my heart, and I would do anything just to hear that song for the first time again.
I don’t know about that, JOS is usually voted best all time green day song and I’ve never seen homecoming rank very high. I love homecoming but JOS easily wins this one for me
Such a hard decision! Homecoming is awesome but I’ve gotta say JOS. It was one of the first songs i learnt on guitar and one of my favourites to play and was quite significant to me at a tough time in my life.
This question is really hard. There’s a lot I like about these songs, they both have lyrics that really resonate with me, but I think I like Homecoming a bit more. The sound of it kind of gives off the vibe of the end of JoS if that makes sense. You also can’t go wrong with the addition of Mike and Tre on the track.
I think I overplayed JoS when I first got into Green Day, so if I don’t listen past the first minute or so I sometimes skip it, but when I’m in the mood it’s a banger lol.
They’re sooooo close but I could never lose JOS forever so as much as I want to hear Homecoming live someday I have to go with JOS as the one I can’t live without.
JoS is a song that I never get tired of I think it will always be one of my top GD songs and certainly I credit it with making this band one of my all time favourites. I always said that if I was gonna go on that desert island disks show JoS would be a song I’d pick because it’s like 4 songs in one lol. I love Homecoming but this ain’t a contest for me haha.
