This is my favourite Green Day show to date, Irving Plaza 2012. The full show was professionally recorded, but never fully released due to the amount Billie drunk. The setlist is incredible, the energy is awesome, I love it.
Is that really why it wasn’t released? Was it supposed to be like an official concert video like bullet in a bible?
Yeah, or moreso like Awesome As Fuck, without the documentary pieces inbetween. The project was shelved because of Billie’s drinking and after a few days we had iHeartRadio
idk what it is, but this concert makes me really sad. especially during wake me up when september ends. when he screams right before the solo, my heart just sinks.
That bit is heartbreaking, the show was on the day in question too, at least thats what I read online.
oh really that’s sad man…
Great show but I find it painful to watch in retrospect.
That’s sad it really was an amazing show
i know, they killed it in this concert, but billie was not in a good place and it showed…
I’m not convinced that’s why in the slightest, especially given they show him throwing up during American Idiot in the proshot. It’s much more likely that… An hour is just all they set out to make. The Irving Plaza proshot was edited after, not live, so every minute they release is mountains more work to edit, it’s not like they’re just sitting on the show fully edited already, they have to actively put in effort for every new minute they release. In all likilihood, “1 hour” was the budget/project scope, so they made… 1 hour.
It’s a shame though because they did film the whole show and there is something called the “line cut”, which is essentially a “first draft” of the editing made live that features the entire show. That “line cut” is probably sitting somewhere with WMG or something. I know they sent ABC News the line cut to use in their news coverage, so they might have it too: https://youtu.be/1oRwZT164Jo?t=77
So, either this cut could get leaked or the anniversaries could make them invest in ““finishing”” this project more, which would be awesome!
